Create Parts Using Catia Solid Combine

Create a Solid Part from two sketches using the Solid Combine tool in Catia.

Creating part models in CATIA CAD can be made more efficient and effective with the right tools. Here are some useful tools and features in CATIA that can aid in part modeling: Sketcher: CATIA's Sketcher is where you create 2D profiles that will later be used to generate 3D geometry. It offers a variety of tools for drawing lines, arcs, circles, and more. Part Design Workbench: This workbench provides a wide range of tools for creating solid models. Features like Pad, Pocket, Hole, Fillet, and Chamfer are commonly used to create complex parts. Generative Shape

Design Workbench: For more organic or freeform shapes, this workbench offers advanced surfacing tools such as Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, Blend, and Multi-sections. Assembly Design Workbench: If your part model is part of a larger assembly, this workbench allows you to assemble multiple parts together and check for interferences or clearances. Drafting Workbench: Once your part model is created, you can generate 2D drawings with dimensions and annotations using this workbench.

Part Design Features: CATIA offers a variety of advanced features such as Advanced Draft, Rib, Shaft, Slot, and Multi-Pad that can help in creating complex part geometries.

This video shows the creation of a piece using the Solid Combine tool from the work page. This tool is used after creating two 2d sketches in two different planes, and defining a direction for this solid.

For this in Workspace we create a new part application and then we have to create two sketches in two different planes. First, in the XY plane, we will create a sketch in the form of a circle, the outline of the sketch must be closed, then we exit the sketch page. In another plane, for example XZ, we create the second sketch, this time in the form of a contoured profile in the sketch tab, after which we leave the sketch page again. Now in the third plane we will draw a line that in the future we will use as directories for the new model created. For ease in the application directory, we do Sketch Positioning for the created sketches. To create the model in the toolbar  click the Solid Combine icon. In the table that appears on the Profile tab, enter Sketch number 1, and in the Second Component on the right side of the Profile tab, enter Sketch number 2. In this case, both Normal Profile boxes are checked.
Click the Preview button and you will see the new solid object created.

CATIA VBA (Visual Basic for Applications): If you're familiar with programming, you can use VBA to automate repetitive tasks or customize CATIA's functionality to better suit your needs. CATIA Macros: Similar to VBA, you can record and create macros to automate sequences of commands in CATIA. This can save time and improve productivity.

Online Resources and Communities: CATIA has a large user base, and there are many online resources, forums, and communities where you can find tutorials, tips, and best practices for part modeling in CATIA. By leveraging these tools and resources effectively, you can enhance your part modeling workflow in CATIA CAD and create complex and precise part models more efficiently.
